Seattle Seahawks player arrested for domestic assault

The potential consequences of domestic violence can be scary. Someone who is arrested for domestic violence or domestic assault may have to post an expensive bail, take time off work and deal with the stigma of being labeled as an abuser. Because of this, mounting a proper defense is vital to ensure that the long-term consequences of these domestic assault charges are minimized.

Residents in Seattle may have heard about Leroy Hill, a Seattle Seahawks player who was arrested on two domestic violence charges. According to reports, a 26-year-old woman claims to have been held against her will in Hill's home. She also claims she was assaulted several times and states she was only able to leave his residence when Hill went to use the bathroom. She was treated and released from a local hospital.

Because of her accusations, Hill potentially faces two felony charges - third-degree assault-domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment-domestic violence. This is the second time Hill has been arrested for domestic violence charges. In the previous case, he avoided trial due to a stipulated order of continuance requiring that he complete a state-certified one-year domestic violence treatment program and stay out of trouble for 18 months.

Those facing domestic violence charges or domestic assault charges should do their due diligence when seeking a knowledgeable and trustworthy attorney to mount a effective and strategic defense. Prior to making any statements or conceding to cooperate with authorities who have you under investigation, individuals such as Mr. Hill should always first reach out to a criminal defense attorney.
