Kirkland crash kills one: Police suspect alcohol was involved

Posted by Steve Karimi | Jun 17, 2014 | 0 Comments

On Tuesday evening, Washington police received a report of a van being driven erratically on a Kirkland road. Before the informant could complete the call, however, the van reportedly crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. According to police reports, the crash resulted in three injuries and one death.

The driver of the van was also treated for minor injuries. Upon her release from the hospital, she was booked into the King County jail on suspicion of drunk driving. Police say that she "exhibited signs of intoxication," which is sufficient evidence in Washington for an arrest. She remains in jail while police investigate and determine whether to charge her with vehicular homicide.

Many people may be surprised to find themselves facing drunk driving charges. Just one drink too many can result in an accident like the one in Kirkland. While drunk driving charges are serious, the woman being held in jail will have the opportunity to defend her case.

Putting forth the best possible defense is in this woman's best interest. Consulting a criminal defense attorney with experience defending drunk driving charges could significantly influence this woman's life. In some circumstances, a skilled attorney can help get such charges dismissed. If the charges do stay, an attorney may help lessen the consequences of a drunk driving charge so the penalty is less harsh.

Dealing with drunk driving charges is stressful; putting one's future in the hands of a talented attorney can at least eliminate some concerns.
